“She waves to you / to me”
And this wave is for me. Dark water. My water. Moody she, the great mother–not-mother, primal woman, Gaia, Earth, mitochondrial Eve, the one who survived everything and still gave birth to the new, always in motion, always in change, sometimes poisoned, sometimes fresh and alive, dying again and returning, pouring through cycles, swaying, and you sway with her. No one rules anyone here, no one dominates, no one fights or resists. There is symbiosis, and you are in her power, in this movement and swaying, yet at the same time you co-create it in harmony. She has always been there.
There is life in her, there is some ancient being within her, as if she were a creation herself, one great entity. In this painting, that entity waves to me, waves to you.
Inspired by Solaris by Stanisław Lem – a planet made of water that lives and is its own single inhabitant, one vast being.
Inspired by Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir – this other, alien being makes contact and waves to you because you did so earlier, yet you don’t know whether it understands the gesture the way you do. You know nothing, because it is a being you do not know, and you do not even know where to begin in order to understand it. Still, there is a gesture and there is intention, and you take the risk. In fact, you have no choice; this optimism is an evolutionarily developed, necessary element. So you both wave back and forth a few times, and then you figure out what to do next.

A ta fala jest dla mnie. Mroczna woda. Moja woda. Humorzasta ona, wielka matka-nie-matka, prakobieta, Gaja, Ziemia, mitochondrialna Ewa, ta, która przetrwała wszystko i jeszcze urodziła nowe, wciąż w ruchu, wciąż w zmianie, czasem zatruta, czasem świeża i żywa, na nowo umiera i wraca, przelewa się cyklami, kołysze się, a ty wraz z nią, nikt tu nikim nie rządzi, nie dominuje, nikt nie walczy i się nie opiera, jest symbioza i jesteś w jej władzy, w tym ruchu i kołysaniu, ale jednocześnie go współtworzysz w harmonii. Ona tam zawsze była.
Jest w niej życie, jest w niej jakiś prastary byt, jest jakby stworzeniem, jedną wielką istotą. W tym obrazie ta istota macha do mnie, macha do ciebie.

Inspiracja „Hail Mary” Andy Weir – ten obcy, inny byt nawiązuje kontakt i macha do ciebie, bo ty wcześniej tak zrobiłeś, ale nie wiesz, czy rozumie ten gest tak jak ty, nie wiesz nic, bo to istota, której nie znasz i nawet nie wiesz, od czego zacząć, żeby ją poznać. Jednak jest gest i jest intencja, i ryzykujesz, w sumie to nie masz wyjścia, ten optymizm jest ewolucyjnie wypracowanym, niezbędnym elementem. Więc se odmachujecie kilka razy, a potem kombinujecie, co dalej.
