A portrait is not just the facial features or accuracy of depiction, but above all the story someone carries with them — the character of the living person you see. It is also the reason why someone wants to see this person through the filter of art — for whom and why a simple photograph is not enough.
A good portrait is dense; when you look at it, you see and feel the person, together with their temperament. You also see how they are perceived by their loved ones. This person is unique and exceptional.
The best portrait shows this person along with their history and character. It shows who they are now, but at the same time who they have always been and how they are seen by those who love them — as if they want to remember and immortalize them forever.
This is the goal I pursue when painting a portrait. I love painting portraits, because I love observing people.
Portret to nie tylko rysy twarzy czy dokładność odwzorowania, ale przede wszystkim historia, jaką ktoś ze sobą niesie, to charakter żywej osoby, jaką się widzi. To także powód, dla którego ktoś chce zobaczyć tę osobę przez filtr sztuki — komu i dlaczego nie wystarcza zwykłe zdjęcie.
Dobry portret jest gęsty; patrząc na niego, widzisz i czujesz w nim osobę, razem z jej temperamentem. Widzisz w nim także, jak postrzegają ją bliscy, którzy ją kochają. Ta osoba jest jedyna i wyjątkowa.
Najlepszy portret pokazuje tę osobę wraz z jej historią i charakterem. Pokazuje, jaka jest teraz, ale jednocześnie jaka zawsze była i jaką widzą ją osoby, które ją kochają — tak, jakby chciały ją zapamiętać i uwiecznić na zawsze.
To jest cel, do którego dążę, malując portret. Niesamowicie lubię malować portrety, bo lubię przyglądać się ludziom.
